“When properly mobilized, sound can specifically entrain the human organism toward the greater harmony and homeostasis that it requires to remain vibrant and to regenerate after injury or illness. The properties of sound medicine – entrainment, harmony and homeostasis – represent the rational AND spiritual foundation for a new movement in the healing arts and sciences.”
– Dr. Mitchell Gaynor

Sound frequencies impact the physical, as well as our energy bodies in a subtle, yet profound ways. Sound has holographic qualities, allowing it to transcend space and, even, time, which makes it a potent tool for inter-dimensional healing. Sound frequencies have the capacity to align, purify, restructure, and repair our energy field and, by doing this, bring healing into the physical body. Sound, being vibration in its nature, can not only be heard, but is felt by the body. As we listen to a sound bath, we are embraced by the sound current. In that state, healing can occur. The effects of sound healing may be experienced for days and weeks after the healing session, as the energy shifts take place.

How Does Sound Healing Work?

“A person does not hear sound only through the ears; he hears sound through every pore of his body. It permeates the entire being, and according to its particular influence either slows or quickens the rhythm of the blood circulation; it either wakens or soothes the nervous system. It arouses a person to greater passions or it calms him by bringing him peace. ”
– Hazrat Inayat Khan
A sound healing session consists of three parts: introductory discussion with the client, sound bath, and post-session feedback. The introductory discussion provides an opportunity for the client to go over information contained in the intake form, or specify areas of focus for this session – be it physical health, emotional wellbeing, or any other aspect of life that may need attention at this time. While listening to a sound bath does not require a special setting, it is recommended that the client remain at rest – either sitting, or lying down – for the duration of the session. Wearing comfortable clothing and being in a space with minimal distractions would enhance the experience. For optimal results, a client may choose to listen to the sound bath via a stereo headset. Certain sound frequencies, including binaural beats, can change the brain state, therefore it is not recommended to drive a car, or be engaged in any activity during a sound bath, as it may lead to drowsiness, or falling asleep. Sharing post-session feedback with the client helps integrate the experience.
What to Expect During a Sound Healing Session

“Take a music bath once or twice a week for a few seasons,
and you will find that it is to the soul what the water bath is to the body.”
– Oliver Wendell Holmes
During a sound healing session, the body absorbs the sound frequencies at all energy levels – from the dense matter of the physical body to the subtle realms of the energy bodies. As these frequencies work their way through the individual’s energy, shifts may occur that may vary in nature. Paying attention to the body’s inner rhythm remains key after a sound healing session. Drinking plenty of water and doing breathing exercises, or practicing vocal toning would help the energy move through and will enhance the effect of the sound bath. Since sound baths are tailored to the needs of the client, the experience will vary from person to person. Immediate effects may range from deep relaxation to a sense of feeling grounded and revitalized.

What to Expect After a Sound Healing Session
“Sounds permeate our systems, resonating with our essence, so that inner chaos, conflict, and dissonance seem almost immediately to be transformed into harmony.”
– Dr. Mitchell Gaynor
Astraea Healing Connection offers three scheduling options for sound healing sessions: 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 60 minutes. The cost ranges from $30 for a 30-minute session to $60 for a full hour. Please note that a session consists of three parts: introduction, sound bath, and feedback. The cost only applies to the sound bath, but for their own scheduling needs clients should estimate an additional half an hour. For example, to book a 30-minute session, please select the 30-minute option from the “Length of Session” drop-down in the booking form, but choose a 60-minute slot from the “Schedule a Session” menu. This would allow ample time for the entire session. The sound bath portion of the sound healing session  will be recorded and a link to the recording will be provided to the client.
